The Data Bending course description reads like straight ahead processing class. I think it makes the most sense to leave me out of it so I can save my energy for the graduate class. That is if it can be rescheduled to suit our needs. If I have it right, the graduate class is scheduled to meet 12-3 on Thursdays. How sure are we that the times are up to us? I would never be able to commit to get there before 6pm.

I wanted to restate my expectations for the spring in an email to be clear and on the record.
My Needs:
I can work from ~7 to ~11 one night a week. I want my energies to be focused on the grad class. I do not expect that there will be a spring Interface show.
My thoughts:
If we start juggling lectures across the two classes so that we can present a vast spectrum of material in both, we are tending towards the old model of a whole degree track in a semester. A model which has frustrated me from the start but was held onto as a means to further the curriculum's range and breadth so as to develop a department/degree scale series of classes. 10 years ago it was a great idea but one the college lacked the integrity to support. I am not clear if there is a academic goal at this point. Is that goal served by diluting our offerings across a wide field of classes, departments and campuses?
I say, we hone in on points of interest to us.
My proposal:
Data Bending is about exploring data structures with software. (really up to you 2)
3/4 Barney presents Processing images (and sound?)
1/4 Don presents data concepts and strategies
Interface-G is about physically interconnecting ideas with engineered systems
1/2 North presents coded objects / all 15 classes
1/4 Barney presents coded visuals / 5-10 classes
1/4 Don presents coded energy / 5-10 classes

Any thoughts from you two about scheduling, structure or objectives?

Graduate Interface meets on Tuesday nights. Right now it is scheduled in Oakland. BTW The class filled instantly. I've been getting lots of requests to add.

In terms of breakdown it would be great to have you, North do one or two math lectures in the data bending class in exchange for some of the coding classes.
